Director, Alliance & Growth Strategy

Due to our growing business, we are expanding our Alliance & Growth Strategy team by adding an experienced Director. You will be focused on leading multi-faceted global research and development alliances with industry partners in the discovery and development of next-generation biologics. You are an experienced alliance manager with scientific understanding of drug discovery and development, and your ability to think strategically about technical challenges to build and convey compelling value propositions will enable you to drive successful business relationships. 

Responsibilities 

  • Advance new and on-going partnerships. Manage the day-to-day relationships with biopharma partnerships and ensure excellence and timely delivery of projects by aligning external and internal stakeholders.  
  • Partner with Business Development in developing new alliance agreements and coordinating account and project plans.  Work with program management to ensure adequate resourcing is being applied to each project at the necessary time. Manage contractual obligations and milestones and safeguard Absci’s intellectual property. Facilitate negotiations with the partner in the event of differences. 
  • Ensure alignment and mutual understanding. Serve as a liaison between stakeholders. Proactively communicate and work with teams to ensure alignment and understanding of deliverables and any potential bottlenecks.  Proactively identify and communicate issues, potential conflict, and risk with partners and the program. Track progress towards goals with measurable KPIs.
  • Innovate on behalf of the partner and identify partner value drivers. Maintain high visibility within the partner organization and broaden and deepen the relationships and discover additional areas of collaboration. Create an environment of continuous improvement to optimize alliance value. 
  • Manage multiple high visibility priorities.
  • Mentor and/or directly manage alliance management team members, supporting functional growth and career development.
  • Constantly facilitate and promote a team environment.

Qualifications

  • PhD or advanced degree in a scientific field and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience, including at least 2 years leading cross-functional scientific technical teams.
  • Demonstrated success in earning partner/customer trust. Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to understand and communicate scientific and business data.
  • Must have solid analytical and problem-solving skills, be detail-oriented, and have the ability to drive tactical outcomes and combine attention to detail with a big-picture, long-term plan.  
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills with the ability to work in a team environment between internal team members and external partners.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Innovative, entrepreneurial mindset.

Huge plus (but not required):

  • Certification in Alliance Management best practices, such as CA-AM. 
  • Education or training in project management principles, concepts, practices, and standards.

The salary range for this position is $190,000-220,000/year. Competitive equity package applies. Pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
